Konstantinos Chatzikostas, Lecturer

 

He was born in Thessaloniki on 13.03.1974. From 1985 to 1991, he studied at the German School of Thessaloniki (Junior High School – High School). In spring 1991, he successfully sat for the exams for the acquisition of the title allowing access to a German University (“Abitur”). He graduated from High School in June 1991 with the grade “Excellent” – 19 and 6/10. In September of the same year, he passed the respective Pan-Hellenic exams and was admitted in the School of Law, Faculty of Law, Economic and Political Sciences of the Aristotle University Thessaloniki. He graduated from the School of Law of the A.U.Th. in November 1995 with the overall grade “Excellent” (8,63/10).

In November 1995, he was enrolled as PhD candidate in the School of Law of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt- Main, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Ulfrid Neumann and the co-supervision of Professor Dr. Klaus Günther.

In September 1996, he was granted a three-year scholarship by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in order to elaborate his PhD thesis.

On 22.05.2000, he verbally defended his PhD thesis before a three-membered committee, in accordance with the Thesis Regulation of the University of Frankfurt. He was unanimously acclaimed Doctor of the Law School of the University of Frankfurt with the distinction “magna cum laude”.

His PhD thesis entitled “Die Disponibilität des Rechts­gutes Leben in ihrer Bedeutung für die Probleme von Suizid und Euthanasie” (The possibility to dispose the legal right of life, in particular under the light of the issues of suicide and euthanasia) was published with the financial support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in 2001 by “PETER LANG” Editions and by the scientific publications review “Frankfurter kriminalwissenschaftliche Studien”, which is run by Professors of the University of Frankfurt.

During the spring semesters of academic years 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08 as well as during the academic years 2008-09 and 2009-10 he was active as special scientist at the Department of Penal Sciences, School of Law, Faculty of Law, Economic and Political Sciences of the Αristotle University Thessaloniki, and taught the courses of «General Part of Criminal Law»,  «Special Part of Criminal Law», «Profound study of Substantive Penal Law» «Special Topics of Penal Law» and «Special Penal Laws». Furthermore, he has taught the course of «Introduction to the Greek Penal Law» in the German language for German speaking Erasmus students. He also participated in the organization of student seminars on the subjects of electronic crime, drugs criminality, euthanasia and criminal law, transplantation law, insults of honor and right of speech, etc.

In April 2011 he was elected lecturer of substantive criminal law at the Department of Penal Sciences, School of Law, Faculty of Law, Economic and Political Sciences of the Aristotle University Thessaloniki.

From 25.09.2000 to 25.08.2002, he fulfilled his military service obligations as a Reserve Officer Cadet.

He is an active lawyer appointed at the First Instance Court of Thessaloniki since 1998 and I have been practicing the said profession in Thessaloniki since 2002.

He is a fluent speaker of German (German Certificate of Graduation – Abitur / PhD thesis) and English (Cambridge First Certificate in English/ Certificate of Pro­ficiency in English) and he speaks very well French (Certificat de Langue Fran­çaise/ Certificat Pratique de Langue Française -1er DEGRE).
