Alexandros - Timotheos Kazanas, Dr. jur. - Lawyer

 

Alexandros-Timotheos Kazanas was born in Thessaloniki in 1980. He graduated from the Faculty of Law, School of Law, Economics and Political Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2002). He received a Master of Laws from the same Faculty in the field of Criminal Law and Criminology, also attending the modules on “Unified European Legal Space” (2004). He wrote his thesis on “The protection of cultural heritage through criminal law - The protected legal interest and its effect on the criminal law provisions of Statute no. 3028/2002” and earned his PhD from the Faculty of Law of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2010 summa cum laude. During his postgraduate studies, he received scholarships from the State Scholarships Foundation and the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation.

He has practiced law as an attorney in Thessaloniki since 2004. Along with this active involvement in legal advocacy, he has also assumed teaching and tutorship activities:

a) at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (tutorials in criminal law from 2004 to 2010 as a graduate fellow and in 2012 as a special scientist according to the Presidential Decree 407/1980),

b) at Public Institutes of Vocational Training (various legal modules, 2005, 2011-today), and

c) at the Educational Organization “G. KARFIS” (preparatory tutorship of criminal law for candidates of the National School of Judges, 2011-2012).

He has edited a book entitled Criminal Offenses of Intellectual Property, the fourth volume of the series Special Penal Statutes (series directors: M. Kaiafa-Gbandi and E. Symeonidou-Kastanidou, professors at A.U.TH.), Nomiki Vivliothiki Editions, Athens 2009.

He also edited a section (relevant to the protection of intellectual property rights via criminal law) of the book Jurisprudential Applications of Special Penal Statutes, Nomiki Vivliothiki Editions, Athens 2008 (in collaboration with the authors M. Kaiafa-Gbandi and E. Symeonidou-Kastanidou, professors at A.U.TH.).
